The History of Luntley Court

Luntley Court is a Jacobean house, which was built between 1603 – 1625. The house was originally two storeys which probably consisted of a main block with cross wings at the south east and North West ends of the house. In 1674 the house was altered and enlarged.

There are five families known to have lived in the house these families were:

  • Burlton

In 1932 a survey was commissioned on the house, at this time a conservatory was attached to the house on the right hand side of the porch. Also there was a framed garden house at the rear of the main house – sadly both have now been destroyed. The drive was situated near the side door of the house, also by the door there once was a wash house.

Photographs were taken in 1914 that show the court yard having a major face lift. Unfortunately these photos cannot be shown on the website.
